Student journalist
Editor-in-Chief
of The Communicator
I've been on the staff of The Communicator, my school's student press, for 3 years, and it is an honor to serve as a Print Editor-in-Chief this year. The Communicator has received several prestigious national awards during my time on staff: in 2018, we won the National Scholastic Press Association 1st place award for our magazine and for our website, and in 2019, we won 2nd place for print under my leadership. I've gotten the chance to write impactful articles about my school, the community, and the country while on the staff of The Communicator. You can see some of these pieces below, or click the link for my profile on The Communicator's website.

Opinion
A controversial topic, this is my argument that legislators should do more to work towards decriminalizing the possession of all drugs in the United States.
Written from my own perspective, this article argues for more male allyship in the feminist movement and explores the benefits for everyone when we come together on this issue.
Early in his tenure, President Trump appointed Betsy DeVos as education secretary. She had previously served the same position in Michigan's state government, so I examined her incompetency through a local and national lens.
News
My school won the National Blue Ribbon Award, one of the highest federal honors for education. Subsequently, I spent the announcement day running around with a camera and a phone as teachers received flowers, crowns, and love.
This photo story covered the protesters and signs of the 2018 Women's March. Ann Arbor's branch of the international march was packed, and some of my captures were striking.
My first published article, this piece covered an immigration protest in Flint. As a scared freshman, I interviewed the counter-protesters pictured above. Working on this piece has continued to motivate me to do good journalism and to listen to voices from both sides.
